How do I book with The George?

If you prefer the DIY option, you can book online via the “Book Now!” link at the top or bottom of this page.
Alternatively, call us to discuss options and rates (our contact details are on our Contact Us page).

A booking is not confirmed unless it is accompanied by a security deposit.

All guests are required to present a current and valid form of Photo Identification (eg. Passport).

What do I have to pay to make a booking?

All bookings require 3 items to be paid up front.
– Security Deposit (at time of booking);
– Key Deposit (per set of keys) (prior or on arrival);
– First week room payment (prior or on arrival).

Are there any fees for cancelling a booking?

If you cancel your booking at least 7 days in advance, there are no cancellation fees charged by The George. You will receive your accommodation refund in full, minus the security deposit and any third party transaction fees paid, which will depend on the payment method used at the time of booking.

Third Party transaction fees may include online booking fees, travel agent fees, credit card fees. Again, what transaction fees apply to you depends on how you booked and paid.

Cancellations due to evidenced Covid restrictions will be refunded in full (less any third party transaction fees).

All bookings are subject to minimum stay criteria. Failing to meet minimum stay criteria will result in forfeiture of the security deposit.

Can I get a refund if COVID Restrictions are tightened?

Yes! Contact us via email or phone and we will gladly assist in adjusting your booking, or refunding your booking.

Are there laundry facilities on site?

Yes. There are tap and go operated washing machines and dryers onsite.

What is included in the stay?

All bills are included (Water/Electricity/Gas).

Our residents are expected to keep their rooms clean and tidy. We also provide weekly housekeeping (including bed linen and towels) to all rooms.

Access to the Common Room (for work or for study) during business hours.

Access to the building, the kitchen, and the laundry, is available for residents with keys 24 hrs a day.

The Wifi extends to most surrounding areas, but not in all cases.

Hours Of Operation

Reception Hours are typically Mon – Fri: 8am – 4pm.
(Reception Desk is closed on Weekends and Public Holidays.)

Registered guests are able to access the building 24/7.

Housekeeping Hrs are typically Mon – Thu: 8am – 12pm
(Except for weeks when Public Holidays occur, housekeeping days / hours may be altered. Contact reception for more information.)

What else do I need to know about the site?

The George operates in a heritage listed building across 3 levels. These levels are accessed by stairs at the front and rear of the building. There are no lifts or elevators. There is no provision for wheelchair access.

The building is designated a Non-Smoking premises. Due to the nature of the property’s heritage we enforce a strict Non-Smoking policy in all areas of the building (there are no exceptions). This includes smoking in all it’s forms. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions policy.

Emergency Exit. Apart from access via the front main doors, there is an emergency exit via the rear stairs of the building (only to be used in the case of an emergency).

The building is fitted with fire safety equipment throughout, including sprinklers, hose reels and fire extinguishers. Smoke and heat detectors are fitted in all areas of the building and are connected to a back to base fire alarm monitoring system. The George complies with all government fire safety regulations at all times.

I want to make a booking but I plan to arrive on a Weekend. Is this possible?

Since reception hours are Mon – Fri, we can make a special arrangement if you are expecting to arrive on a weekend. There is more than one way to manage this depending on when and how you are arriving. Communication is key; And accurate timing helps.

What type of person / guest are you looking for?

We are seeking workers or students who are willing to stay long term; In excess of 2 or 3 months.

Our accommodation is also suitable for travellers who are able to commit to the minimum stay requirement.

All businesses want guests who can afford to pay their weekly expenses. That’s a given. However, what is very important to us is a person who is courteous, tidy, and thoughtful of others. Someone who always leaves a common area in a better state than how they found it, able to clean up after themselves. Since there is a requirement for a minimum 2 month stay it’s important that we have a good mix of people who play nice together and get on well with others.

Can I bring a pet?

Sorry, we don’t allow pets in the building.
